Air Laos, based in Vientiane (VTE), is a regional operator connecting South East Asia. We focus on a young fleet of comfortable and modern jets and have a continuous growth plan.
ILs are welcome as long as you connect to our hub in VTE or we fly to a hub of yours.
News:
2016-10: After the take over of Air Laos (now Air Laos Express) from Air Taiwan it was immediately clear, that the very small airline would face difficulties to grow to a critical mass without further support. Regulatory limitations in investing directly into this company, it was decided to create a new company with a bigger capital basis. Air Laos was born.
2016-11: Following a proven concept of a full service/high quality paired with a modern fleet seems to also work in Laos. The network has already grown to 76 destinations and we plan to include more cities into our network. Loads are improving and our profitability is established. Select destinations will be transitioned over to our daughter airline Air Laos Express as per the capability of that feeder airline.
2016-11: After a loss in the initial week which was due to some one time charges, we have just finished our second week closing and are happy to announce an already 13% profitability. The initial fleet size has been reached and we are currently fine tuning our network to be able to provide the best offer for our valued clients.
2016-12: The growth continues and we have a consistently high load and profitability has increased along. As one of the launch customers for the new CS300 we are eagerly awaiting the first delivery to further increase our capacity on our most demanded routes.
2016-12: The introduction of our first 6 CS300 has been successfully completed. While higher fuel prices and training costs have put our margin under pressure, we continue the expansion and grow our network further.
2017-01: The success story continues as we keep expanding our fleet. With the introduction of our first Airbus aircraft we could start flying to Dubai and Melbourne. The encouraging results allowed us to already double the frequency to Dubai and we finally have four daily flights to Kansai airport. We are also proud to say, that the investment of Flow Air certainly paid off as we just surpassed our mother company in terms of passengers transported.
2017-02: Although our SLF has come down a little be we are still in the high 80s% and our profitability is in the high 20s%. We currently have a fleet of 75 aircraft and continue to grow our business. Recent additions as Moscow and Sydney prove immediately profitable and we will try to possibly introduce a second wave to Australia to better align our connections. A first A321 is currently on order to cater for very high demand routes. The slot situation at VTE is starting to become an issue with certain times during the day becoming completely full already.
2017-05: After having introduced the first widebody aircraft and scheduled some true long haul flights to North America, Africa and Europe, we have now began to optimize our fleet and adjust the aircraft to the demands. Expect more rescheduling in the coming weeks and some changes to types. We try to optimize our loads and increase profitability. Select destinations might get some increase in frequency, though we rather keep our few remaining slots for possible additional destinations.
2017-06: Air Laos just made its biggest aircraft order with ordering 15 A350-900 from Airbus. This equals to AS$ 2.4 billions at list prices. We are happy to be able to introduce this ultra modern and highly efficient type to our fleet. We will introduce an even more comfortable business class product and retain our spacious award winning economy seats with upgraded IFE. The aircraft will gradually replace our Boeing 767 over the next few weeks.
2017-12: Air Laos has decided to undergo an update of its corporate design. To further emphasize on our history we have made the three headed elephant as our icon that we want to take out to the world. We believe the design is elegant, modern yet bridges to our rich history.
